ABOUT US

POMEROY PARTNERS FOR HEALTHY FAMILIES

Pomeroy Partners for Healthy Families is a volunteer organization (coalition) that has two paid staff members. We analyze detailed reports of local data and write a strategic plan for prevention in Pomeroy to prevent risk factors from affecting our kids. We know that local problems like underage drinking and drug use require local solutions. We have strategies at every level of the community to ensure as many people have the necessary knowledge to help our youth make the best decisions. In prevention, the target audience is no longer youth, but adults. The more adults in our community that understand what factors to be aware of, the better prevention works. Thank you to our volunteer members who have helped make our coalition successful!

THE COMMUNITY PREVENTION AND WELLNESS INITIATIVE (CPWI)

cpwi-logo_orig.png

CPWI is a re-designed funding approach to prevention services in Washington State. The CPWI format is one of the most innovative state-funded prevention programs in the United States.  In 2011, funding was reorganized to prioritize services in the highest need communities and to create community coalitions for prevention.

CPWI is completely community focused, with a coalition of volunteers being trained on prevention issues, creating and carrying out their own action plan, and analyzing local data to decide what the local priorities are.

The community-focused approach allows us to:

  • Focus efforts and leverage resources;

  • Build on and replicate what works;

  • Measure outcomes; and

  • See a deeper impact in communities.
